December 1st, 2014 Letter - 5 MONTHS!!!

So my week... because my wonderful companion is (again) the district leader I get to go on splits with all the Elders in Tangerang! Which is now 8! It's always fun to see the difference with elders that are very new compared to missionaries that have been here for a year and a half!! Everything is getting settled back down and we are really starting to find a lot of people to teach! We went up to a new area in Tangerang called Kariwaci that has a lot of Christians! We are loving it up there!

Umm not much  of a crazy story but maybe to explain about Indonesia...  so in English people are called Mr. or Mrs. or teenager, maybe even child. In Indonesia it's Pak (for men that are older), Bapak (men that are really old), then Mas (for teenagers that are boys). Then there is Ibu (women that are married), Mbak (girls that are young), then all children is Adik. So Pak Mafud or Pak Agus... just the title. Fun fact!

Story of the week was probably from yesterday when we convinced this nice old lady that her baptism isn't right. At this point of the night we already gave both of our Book of Mormons away.. so we come into this nice ladies house and I have never seen more "I love Jesus pictures." We just started talking about authority. Now you must understand that most churches here have a pendeta (or.. priest dude in English..) that leads their church! They believe that because this man went to school and knows a lot about the bible that he can baptize people. So after we explain about the apostles getting authority from Christ and also about how that authority has to be given through the laying on of hands this sweet old lady agreed with us! Then she realized that because we are right that she hasn't been baptized. She almost started crying. The worst part was that it was already late so we had to go and just left a pamphlet telling her how you can get that authority. I hope she slept that night....

Things that made me smile:
1) People telling me that I am fluent in the language is the best compliment from an Indonesian!!
2) Random people that just let us into their homes to preach to them!! (See pictures below) haha Only met these people once!
3) Late nights when I get really sarcastic! Apparently I say some really funny things!
