September 21, 2014 Letter

Hello!!

So Pak M. did not get baptized because his pastor in his church came over and got really mad at him.  The man is very confused at this point because he knows that The Church of Jesus Christ is the only true church on earth, but he also knows that if he completely backs off from his pastor, he will not have a lot of the things he has now.  This pastor has given him food when he had none, shelter when he didn't have a home, and has given him a lot of money...so, he is faced with physical blessings or spiritual blessings...hopefully, this week we can save our dear brother.

So, Tangerang is one of the nicest and richest places in Indonesia.  So, yes, it is a lot like Jakarta...lots of cars, lots of people!  And lots of guarded neighborhoods!!  Hahaha, but it is so big!!!!  We figured out that we rode our bikes 35 miles last night!!  And we rode 14 miles in less than 45 minutes!

Chess here is played on a super old dirty set.  I am going to get one for Kayden's collection because they are everywhere, and they like when the white guy plays with them!!  Haha so, no, I don't carry a set around with me because we bike so much, but, yes, it is a wonderful tool to share the gospel!!

It is really hard when people don't realize their full potential...yesterday, we had an investigator that came to church and said he didn't feel anything...and I was like...HOW!?  The Spirit is so strong, and and all you have to do is be ready and have the faith to receive it!!!!

I also taught at the ward party how to make ties!!  Haha everyone thought it was so funny that I could crochet and they all liked to learn!  And there was two investigators so hopefully they will want to learn about the gospel now!!

People in Indonesia think I look like: Superman, Spiderman, Clark Kent, Peter Parker, some Spanish dude...haha they all call me one of those and they think it is so funny!!  Haha, oh, and Harry Potter...it's the glasses!

Things that made me smile:

1) Rain...haha, when it rains here, you are not dry...AT ALL...but it kinda is the funnest thing ever!!

2) The look on people's face when they see two white guys just walking down the street every day.  it just makes me smile!!

3) Martobak!!  Haha, it is a pancake thing drenched in butter with chocolate in the middle!!  Overall, just amazing!!!

Love you all!!
Elder Troff
