First, for everyone who contributed to the "Little Piece of Home" book with your favorite scriptures and quotes, I love, love, love the book!!! Word's cannot express how much that means to me!! I haven't got a chance to read through everything yet, but I know that when I do get to everyone's part, it will be perfect for where I am at the moment in my mission!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to do that!! It really almost made me teary eyed and I don't get teary eyed!!
I can't believe it is already P-day!!! I am now on the downward climb out of the MTC which I have mixed emotions about, but overall I am getting more and more excited to just be in Indonesia!!!!!!!!
Big stories of the week are these:
Tuesday's devotional which was a member of the Seventy that I honestly don't know his name....but he had his 7 children who all served missions come and give their testimonies about missionary work. Let's just say that I left that meeting very humbled. I have always believed that I was strong and diligent in this gospel, but everyone no matter who they are can do better and more!!! The scripture in D & C about serving with all your heart, might, mind and strength, really got to me and you better believe that Elder Troff has stepped up his game!!! I mean Eternal Life is hanging in the balance!!!!!!!!
Now story number two is also very personal to my heart. Here at the MTC we get to teach investigators which are just our teachers pretending to be an investigator, but still they are our investigators! My companion and I were really struggling with Sister Yuni who is a Catholic and ummm.....let's just say really hard to teach!! So yesterday, we decided through the Spirit the topic that we should teach her. Now remember that we don't really like teaching her, but we felt really good about this lesson!! It was about 2 Nephi 2:27 about "men are free to choose". We told her that we can see that she loves God and His Son, Jesus Christ, and we love that so much!! And we know that the Book of Mormon can bring more joy and happiness to her life than she could possibly imagine!!! The Holy Ghost was so strong in the room that the words that we were speaking were not even close to our words!! Everyone remember that this is all in Indonesian!! By the time we left the classroom, Sister Yuni (who was really our teacher Sister Collins) was crying! And I got to end with one of the most powerful prayers I have ever said! Now, if you think that the Lord doesn't care about two new missionaries that were struggling with a fake investigator, you are wrong because He DOES!!!!!!!
Also, my study topic this week is Hope. Now I don't really know how to tell you this but....hope is far more important than we think it is!! If you ever get a chance, go read Neil A. Anderson's talk from 1994 called "Brightness of Hope". You will see what I mean!!
Things that made me smile:
1) P-day Eve!! It is so a thing in my district!! This is where we go and sleep over in the district leader's room!! Also, we had a spice challenge between three missionaries and if you are wondering if I was one of them...I was!!! Totally dying by the end, but it was great!!!
2) Mondays!! I love Mondays because I receive all the mail from the weekend!! Overall, the best!!!
3) Hearing wonderful stories from home about how people are getting closer to the gospel!!
I know this Church is true!! I am a representative of Jesus Christ on this earth and I have felt His love everyday!!!
Love Elder Troff
Hurrah for Indonesia! For Indonesia Hurrah!!!!!
